Andrew Harmon is a double bassist in the Portland area where he performs with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Portland Chamber Orchestra, Yakima Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Symphony Tacoma, Oregon Bach Festival, Oregon Mozart Players, 45th Parallel Universe, Montana Baroque Music Festival and Amadeus Chamber Orchestra among other ensembles. Before moving to Portland, he was a founder of the Chicago Bach Ensemble, Principal Bass of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and Opera Illinois and member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Andrew also performed with the Madison Symphony, Heartland Festival Orchestra and International Beethoven Project. A St. Louis native, Andrew studied with members of the St. Louis Symphony, Chicago Symphony and Lyric Opera of Chicago. He earned a BA in English and music from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and MA in the humanities from the University of Chicago. In his free time, Andrew enjoys hiking with his wife cellist Karen Schulz-Harmon and daughter Estère.
